These definitions describe the terms used in OSIO’s public documentation.

Organisation

The business and its people: the entity that owns responsibilities, defines authority and is accountable for outcomes.

Owner

The person who delegates responsibility to OSIO on behalf of an organisation and may be asked for human judgement. The organisation, not the individual Owner, owns canonical Work and the organisational record.

Work

Durable organisational responsibility directed toward an intended outcome. Work can continue, pause, change or remain unresolved beyond one conversation or executor session.

Responsibility

An obligation the organisation has taken on to move something toward an appropriate conclusion, including what remains to be done and who or what may act.

Executor

A model, agent or other execution system assigned to perform a bounded part of organisational Work. An executor does not own the organisation’s canonical state.

Agent

A software system that uses a model or other capabilities to interpret information and carry out steps toward a goal. In OSIO’s model, an agent is an executor and remains subject to organisational authority.

Model

An AI system that produces interpretations, predictions or other outputs. A model output is not itself an organisational decision, permission or proof of an external outcome.

Authority

Permission granted by the organisation for a person or system to perform a particular kind of work or action within defined boundaries.

Capability

What a person or system is technically able to do. Capability alone does not establish permission.

Attempt

An executor’s effort to perform an action. An Attempt establishes that an action was tried, not that it produced an external effect or intended Outcome.

Needs You

OSIO’s product concept for work that should return to a person for genuine judgement, a decision or approval.

Connection

A governed relationship between OSIO and an external business system or resource.

External Effect

A real action or change in an external system, such as a message being sent.

Outcome

The actual state or consequence of work or an external effect. It may differ from the intended outcome.

Evidence

Information that supports claims about what actually happened, within the limits of what it can establish. A provider’s “Sent” record may show that the provider recorded sending a message; it does not by itself establish delivery, reading or business outcome.

Result

The organisation’s recorded, evidence-based conclusion about whether the intended responsibility was achieved, not achieved or remains unresolved. An unresolved Result is not completion.

Completion

The conclusion that a responsibility has met its applicable completion criteria, supported by relevant Evidence. An Attempt or a provider status alone is not sufficient.

Canonical organisational state

The organisation’s continuing authoritative record of relevant Work, responsibility, context, authority, Evidence and Results. It is not owned by one model session or agent process.
